photographs are a universal language of our era

Did you know that it’s estimated that upwards of 1.8 billions photos are uploaded and shared every day. Every. Single. Day.
How many photos are you carrying in your pocket? Hundreds? Thousands?

capture the beauty…
bear witness…
call attention to the everyday…
the events…
the moments…
the people…

I fell in love with photography as a teenager. Then, as it is now, photography was a way for me to escape the world. To focus on something other than what was happening with me…

For me, there’s a power and a grace to photography. Being able to stop the world, and create a piece of eternity you can hold in your hand. Pieces of eternity that will tell a story for generations to come.

Like so many mums, I returned to photography with the birth of my Daughter. And it reignited my passion for the craft.
A passion that has led to today… and the reasons why I love photography.

Photography allows us to record the memories of our children.
Sure, I have snapshots of birthday parties and selfies on the beach. But the images that make my heart sing are the ones I have an investment in.
The ones that tell my children’s story – in a deeply personal way.
The ones that we look back on now, and hopefully in years to come, and can vividly remember that day.

Photography allow us to share our intimate moments.

Those moments, the ones where you blink and miss… life has a way of happening, regardless of what we plan, and photography allows us to return to those moments, if just for a while.

Photography allows us to record the places we have been and the things we have seen.

Road trips, overseas travel… moments that in todays pandemic world are all the more precious. And even if we never visit again, a photo is all you need to transport back there. To the sights, the sounds, the smells… they really are priceless.

Photography allows us to connect with the world at large.

With friends old and new. Being able to experience their worlds, their families… the places they live, and the things they see… births, deaths, birthdays, anniversaries… everyday moments that make up the fabric of their lives.
I’ve made friends with people all around the globe. And I love the glimpses I get into their lives. And I’m grateful that they share them with me.

Photography is a portable medium.

In today’s digital age, this is especially true.
Anyone can express their creativity – be it with the phone in your pocket, the cheap point-and-shoot, or that DSLR that you saved for.

Photography allows us instant satisfaction.

Click and you have an image. I’m not known to be the most patient creature, and while I would love to return to film, for now, digital gives me that instant fix.
