one of my goals for this year is to try and take more photos ‘in the wild’

I spend most of my time photographing in my Studio and don’t get me wrong, I am still in love with off-camera flash.
But, I’ve had a yearning recently to return to my roots as an outdoor, natural light photographer.

So, inspired by the story of a photographer who challenged himself to shoot fantastic photos with a $1 camera, when I unearthed my 16-year-old Canon PowerShot A2300 point-and-shoot during a recent clean up I decided to charge up the battery and have a play.

I didn’t want to just take photos though.  I wanted to take photos that I don’t normally take.
To push myself out of my comfort zone and explore photography without the boundaries of gear.

and to get back to really noticing the light

I’ve had fun with this experiment, and it is something I intend to continue – especially as the camera is small enough to fit very comfortably in the back pocket of my jeans!

So, here are my first experiments with the toy camera setting.
I hope you enjoy them.
