While it gets mighty cold in my neck of the woods, I would love to be able to one day photograph the stark, minimalist beauty of country covered in snow…
I find myself looking for beauty in the smallest of details, and seeking still moments.
Photography, for me, is about being lost in those moments. About creating beauty and meaning.
My heart beats a little faster each time I pick up my camera.
Love these photos, so inspirational!
It rarely snows here, only a couple of times in 20 years. We went to the snow last year (second time ever!) to take photos. I think they would have turned out better if we went to a quieter location rather than the main tourist area. It was fun though and I didn’t feel anywhere near as cold as I thought I would.
We’ve only had snow a handful of times here, Joy. When we do get a decent dump, Husband takes us out through one of the forests that he manages – it’s about 1300 metres above sea level (a couple of hundred metres higher than here in town) – and is nice and quiet, and very picturesque.
And it is surprisingly warm when it snows!

Wow at those images. The last three just speak to me. Stunning. As for snow we don’t get any in Wellington. Although two years ago in August we had snow for three days, it was amazing. The last time it had snowed in Wellington was 1953. It is common for the South Island to be covered in snow, and the middle of the North Island too.
